Band of Dystopian Authors and Fans: What a group!

I’m in a constant state of awe over finally being published. Granted, I’ve been a published author since 2012, but still, the elation never really goes away. And every day, I find another reason for being grateful that someone believed enough to take a chance on me.

Today, I’m feeling sentimental, and I find myself thankful once again. For what, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s for a ‘death-defying’-‘corrupt-government-slamming’-‘zombie-slaying’ “little” group known as Band of Dystopian Authors and Fans. Since its inception last year, the group has grown exponentially, not only in numbers, but in love, friendship, book junkies, book launches, author interviews, writing prompts, great prizesĀ  . . . and the list goes on. It has become a haven for authors and readers alike. Every day, I pop in to see what crazy dystopian ideas Cheer Papworth has placed on the agenda; I check out E.R. Arroyo’s Writing Prompt; I read Angie Taylor’s Interviews. I see who has what on sale today! It’s one of my favorite places to be.

One stand-out reason why I’ve come to cherish this group is because I’ve befriended so many authors. Two years ago, I knew a handful. Today, I can honestly say that I get to interact with a different like-minded writer every day if I choose. Through a wonderful joint writing opportunity, I’ve come to personally know Casey Bond, Megan White, Kelly Van Hull, Myra Lang, Brea Behn, and this only names a few. I’ll admit, I’m still working my way through their books one by one, but the camaraderie we’ve shared has been so fun. I’ve had the opportunity to both teach and learn from these fellow writers about everything from writing techniques to marketing. I thank all of you for sharing your experiences with me, and I look forward to many more along the way.

Finally, this group has allowed me the privilege of meeting old fans and finding new ones. And I love the interaction. It warms my heart to hear from a reader who fell in love with my idea as much as I did. And you, readers, are the heartbeat of every author’s success. Thank you for reading, loving, and especially sharing our books! And thank you for telling us all about your experiences with our books. There’s is no greater way to compliment an author.

BOD, Rock On!
